DC, SSP Fazilka visits mandis to boost wheat lifting, appeal to farmers to bring dry crop
Fazilka, April 22, 2024: Fazilka Deputy Commissioner Dr Senu Duggal and SSP Dr Pargya Jain IPS today came out in the field to boost the lifting of wheat from market yards. Both officers also visited warehouses to review the unloading of wheat and to assess the ground situation.
While interacting with farmers, artisans and labourers, the Deputy Commissioner assured them that agencies would ensure hassle-free procurement of wheat. DC warned the transporters and officials of procurement agencies to lift wheat immediately from mandis. She ordered transporters to provide trucks as per the demands of agencies otherwise to be ready to face the heat.
DC also appealed to the farmers to bring the dry crops to mandi and said that the moisture level of wheat should be below 12 per cent as prescribed by the Food Corporation of India. She also ordered the market Committee official to arrange tarpaulins as needed to cover the crop in case of rain. She also directed the official to arrange basic amenities such as drinking water and shade in candies.
She said that till the last evening 1,54,630 MT wheat had arrived in mandies of district Fazilka out of which 1,32,596 MT wheat was procured by different agencies. Markfed is leading among the other agencies with the purchase of 42445 MT, while Pungrain procured 37951 MT, Punsup procured 31456 MT, PSWC procured 16602 MT and 4142 MT was procured by private traders.
So Rs.140 crore was paid to farmers in the district against their procured crops by different agencies.
Earlier DC also chaired a meeting of all agencies to review the procurement arrangements in the district. On this occasion, ADC (Gen) Rakesh Kumar Popli, SP Ramnish Chaudhary, SDMs Pankaj Bansal and Balkaran Singh, and DFSC Himanshu Kukkar were also present.
